waiting for Winnie

Watch for news here!  Winnie has been mated to Stackhouse and we are also waiting breath abated hoping for Longhair pups to arrive. The projected due date is December 6th or soon after then. It is not an exact science. By all appearances, we are going to get this litter, but until they arrive and are thriving, we hold our breath. We don't want to make false promises. We know we are not the only ones waiting for the Longhairs to arrive.

Winnie and Stackhouse

December 9, 2018-- @ 7:34 AM -- Winnie delivered her first puppy.  Click Here to read more about the whelp!
December 8, 2018-- @ 10:1 PM -- Winnie is very restless. She is working her bedding over. Earlier she refused dinner--Christina lavished her with extra attention. By all appearances--she is close to whelping. We will post a link once the process starts to produce babies.
December 8, 2018-- @ 11:51 AM -- Winnie and Cliff have gone for a stroll. They will be back shortly--everyone will have lunch. Then, very soon, Christina will be here to sit with Winnie while we both attend basketball games.

December 8, 2018-- @ 9:11 AM -- Winnie had another good night. She is still eating as of this morning. She left a tiny bit of the kibble. Most everything was slicked clean to the bottom of the bowl. All is well. We have basketball games today. This morning (shortly) I will go to Nick's game. Cliff will be home with Winnie --and doing the morning chore thing. He will have to do part of mine as well. Around noon, Christina is slated to come and Winnie-sit for us. We don't leave her alone.
December 7, 2018-- @ 11:08 AM -- Winnie had another excellent night. This morning has been extra busy. She and Christina went for a walk. Oh--and she ate a healthy breakfast licking the bowl. All is well!

December 6, 2018-- @ 4:34 PM -- Winnie is having an excellent day. Today is the projected due date. She has been a little different. She didn't want to go out with her usual running mates this morning. We accommodated her wishes. She went alone and for a quicker trip.

She has eaten well --breakfast, lunch, and now dinner. We are monitoring closely and keeping things chill. (Haha)
December 5, 2018-- @ 4:04 PM -- Winnie has had a quiet day. She mostly napped. She ate a good lunch and has been out to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. The temperature is hovering slightly above freezing--she didn't mind at all. She came back inside and licked her dish clean--either she was extremely hungry or it was to her liking--maybe both. She has settled back into her little nest area. All is well at OwyheeStar.
December 5, 2018-- @ 9:54 AM -- Winnie had her second trip outside. I offered her the adapted cuisine and she obliged me by eating well. All is good!
December 5, 2018-- @ 8:51 AM -- Winnie had an excellent night. Last evening Christina and Jacob (our grandkids) came to babysit--mainly for her. She needed to feel safe. They loved on her a bunch--she loved it.

This morning I have not yet given her breakfast. I think it is best not to overload her tummy. I will wait a bit and prepare a mixed dish--some dry kibble mixed with wet food and the NuVet. When she gets close to the whelp, she is going to refuse to eat.

December 4, 2018 @ 1:33 PM -- Winnie did eat her breakfast. She was not terribly happy with us messing around with her special Whelping area--it is very secluded. The Weims really love the security and privacy afforded in the Whelping Box setting. Later we get them and the pups in a more open area. For now--this privacy serves everyone's best interest.
December 4, 2018 @ 9:16 AM -- Winnie continues to do well. She is happy and obsessed with Dixie's litter. A few times she has popped in to visit and Dixie just watched her. What fabulous females--not every hormonal female would be so lovely.

We will see if Winnie eats well this morning. I have been mixing in a half a can of wet food. That seems to do the trick. Eating is important as you might guess. She also gets the NuVet--so the pups are already getting the Made in the USA human-grade supplement benefits.
