Introducing Winnie

Hollee X Benton

Winnie has a winning personality. It just happened that way--she is a very sweet and loving girl. She is a bit more compact than some Weimaraners. She gets her smaller size from her Championship lineage that were bred down to compete with other Versatile hunting breeds.

Pre-whelp Photos take  November 28, 2018

Winnie is from a well-known lineage. Her mother Hollee (OwyheeStar's Jalapeno) was from a litter born to Deli (OwyheeStar's Special www.owyheestar.com/zee.htmlDeliver) and sired by Zee (OwyheeStar's Zum Ziel).

We have pulled out photos from the archive of Winnie's early life at OwyheeStar. She began just like any other OwyheeStar puppy--so we happened to have these saved. Are they not precious?
Winnie

Well, Miss Winnie didn't excel at the hunt test as we hoped. She was not inclined to show her skills to the judges and the onlookers on the test day. So, all the preparation came to naught. That being said, she is able to hunt--has the instinct.

She is happy go lucky and friendly--that is always a huge plus. Watch for fresh photos of her--they are coming soon. Here are a couple of her loaded into the back of the jeep--headed for the NAVHDA event.  As you can see, she is quite lovely.
Winnie is a lovely silvery blue girl--I call her silvery since the blue coat kind of sparkles in the light. Technically she is a Blue Weimaraner who also carries the recessive gene for the Longhair--or we can say she is the genotype carrier. What does that mean?

It means that when mated to a Longhair sire (or another carrier), a portion of the litter will be Longhairs. There are some predictions as to the percentages; however, it is an average over time. One litter might produce a couple of Longhairs, and another might produce all but a couple of Longhair pups. We learned this the hard way--through experience.
